Woodhaven Counseling Associates, Inc. was established in 1983 as a group mental health practice by Dr. John Wineman, a clinical psychologist. Our original location was at 160th and West Center Road, in the Woodhaven strip mall—thus the origin of our practice’s name. By 1989, we outgrew this space and moved to 113th and P Streets. Further growth brought us to our current location (120th and Q) in 2013.

Woodhaven currently has 13 practitioners from all different backgrounds and specialties. In addition to two medical providers, we have clinicians specializing in couples therapy, children, trauma, substance abuse issues, law enforcement, and many other areas. We take pride in collaborating with one another and being able to treat the whole family. Having practitioners with so many different strengths allows us to serve the needs of individuals and families in one setting.

Woodhaven routinely collaborates with other professionals to best meet the needs of our clients. We understand that coordinated medical and mental health care is important. We appreciate the need for clinicians from all different backgrounds to work together to provide every client with the best possible care. With this in mind, several of our practitioners serve on boards, such as the Foundation for Suicide Prevention and treatment teams for children who have been abused and neglected, with various professionals. We feel that it is important to give back to our community.

Over the course of several years, Woodhaven has firmly established itself as a competent, ethical, client-centered practice in the greater Omaha area. Since 2006, Woodhaven has been owned and managed by Dr. LeaAnn Lape-Brinkman, a psychologist who also has her own practice in Woodhaven. It is our clear intent to maintain our high professional standards and provide the best possible services to our clients.
