D r. Merkley is a licensed psychologist specializing in work with couples and individuals. She has been working in the Omaha community for over twenty years. She has extensive experience and training working with couples in distress who may be dealing with issues that include communication problems, emotional disengagement, or infidelity/affair issues. She also works with couples on basic relationship enhancement believing that improving the couple’s friendship is essential to making lasting changes.

Dr. Merkley also works with individuals on issues of depression, anxiety, anger, and interpersonal problems that interfere with overall functioning. Her primary therapy approach is cognitive behavioral therapy which focuses
on creating changes in thinking, behaviors, and feelings. Research shows that this is an effective way to increase your ability to manage your mood and cope with life stressors. In addition to therapy, Dr. Merkley is a
Gottman Seven Principles Educator and is available for workshops or small group presentations for couples wishing to enhance their relationships.

Dr. Merkley is a licensed psychologist in Nebraska. She earned her doctoral degree in counseling psychology from the University of Kansas and completed her postdoctoral training prior to her licensure in 2003. She is a member of the Nebraska Psychological Association.
